Android Maturity

Android.com
With all the talk of Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) releasing soon, I want to briefly say I'm looking forward to it since 2.2 (Froyo) was pretty damn good. It's not a perfect mobile operating system, since there are some things that need updating. Will those things be addressed in Gingerbread? Probably not, but either I'm hopeful they will at some point or I can live with them since they are rather minor.

California High Speed Bus

Fitting video followup after the last post. What's really scary is the front of the bus has the planned CAHSR livery.

HSR in the Central Valley — Don't Panic

California High-Speed Train (CAHSRA)
There's been some interesting news about the California High-Speed Rail (CAHSR) recently. The Feds mandated that all of the $4.3 billion must be used in one the Central Valley portions, either Bakersfield-Fresno or Fresno-Merced. At lot people immediately panicked and stomped their feet saying that the CAHSR was a "train to nowhere" and even more of a "billion dollar boondoggle". Don't panic. You will not be able to ride 220 MPH only in the Central Valley. This is simply the starting point of construction: it will "not carry passengers until more of the system is built."

Roger Waters, The Wall

Another Brick in the Wall, Part II
I've been to close to one hundred different music performances in my lifetime (the details of that are forthcoming) and many of those had elaborate stages and effects. However, seeing Roger Waters perform The Wall at Staples Center Monday night took the cake. Truly a ridiculous and awe inspiring spectacle of rock goodness. I mean, who else but Pink Floyd has giant marionettes gyrating above the stage and inflatable pigs sailing over the audience? This definitely made it into my top three concerts.
